Wyndham West, Beautiful Deck, New, Sealed with CWF UV5, one of the nicest stain/ sealant available. Southern Home, 804-585-8016

Beautiful deck cleaned and sealed using CWF- UV5. I love this product, my new favorite semi-transparent stain/sealant!

More to come tomorrow. It was a long, hot day. But, the work looks wonderful.
Let us give to you a free quote. These new sealants are difficult to work with. This took three men a full eight hours and still a tiny bit more to do. $700 and the customer paid for supplies. The deck is about 900 square feet. It was quite a deal and the customer did not have to lift a finger.

CWF UV5 Cedar water-sealant and stain, is one of the best products out there. Hand-brushed. Southern Home Wood Decks, Richmond, VA 804-585-8016

CWF UV5 is a professional grade stain and water-sealant that comes in a variety of colors. It is a product that has to be hand-brushed on, or rolled. The results are gorgeous!

The brand CWF has been around since I began cleaning decks in the late 1980's. It was a good sealant back at that time, but the product has become newer and better as the company was bought by PPG Industries. Yep, the same people who make Olympic paint and stains.

Recent polls show that this product ranks higher than the Olympic sealants.and stains. It ranks higher than most all products including Sikkens and Behr.

Just look at the beautiful look.

CWF UV5 is absolutely gorgeous! Professional grade, means it should be used by a professional to give to you professional results. This is one of the best products out on the market today and I will put my reputation behind it. Look at that finish. The customer was very, very happy. As you can see, why wouldn't he be?

CWF UV 5, Cedar, Refinishing a Wood Deck in Richmond, VA using a highly rated product. Southern Home Wood Deck, Richmond, VA 804-585-8016

In Richmond, VA we have products for wood decks that are readily available. I have a few favorites that I love for their beauty. Cabot products have been highly regarded by Consumer Reports. I have found another site that gives sensible products that I know about and there are few that I know about that will last more than two or three years. But, I do like a newer product called CWF UV 5.

Generally, I follow up on all my products. I like to see which ones work very well. I like to see which ones hold up under my scrutiny. Because, I go back and see how the product looks one, two and three years later. Generally, CWF UV is a great product that is reasonable and has a beautiful look when put down on a wood deck surface. Without a doubt, I like the look that this product has. It looks rich, it looks substantive and it does look good two years after putting it down. A newer product has arrived by CWF. The company is owned by PPG Industries, the same company that owns Sikkens and also Olympic sealants and stains. PPG Industries has bought these companies and now market and sell them under their company name. I am about to use the product on a deck I just cleaned. Below are the pictures of the deck I am about to stain after having washed the various surfaces. As of tomorrow you will see the progress of this stain. CWF UV 5, Cedar is what I purchased today and I will apply it tomorrow and follow up with pictures of the final product. Let's see how this works.

The following is a link to a website that shares product reviews. This is why I chose to try this product.

Here is the work in progress:

Sikkens client decides to go with Cabot Solid Stain, Southern Home Deck, 804-585-8016

A beautiful deck, but Sikkens product and customer support said that Cetol SRD RE Natural would not be able to be stripped and sanded enough to maintain semi-transparent wood. Cabot solid product was able to be rolled and put onto surface to resolve issue of inferior look.

Too many headaches with the Sikkens Cetol SRD to maintain beautiful look. See how Cabot ended up looking.

Cabot Australian Timber Oil, Applied by Southern Home, Richmond, VA 804-585-8016, What you need to know if you do it yourself!

Hello, my name is Joseph Sowell. I have been cleaning and sealing wood decks in Richmond, VA for thirty years. I know about nearly every product available to the American consumer. I have recognized some very significant traits about the product called, Cabot brand, Australian Timber Oil. Pay very close attention as I know more about this product than most anyone. I have used it extensively and can tell you a few things before you get involved with this water-sealant.

Firstly, the product does look absolutely beautiful when it is applied correctly. Secondly, it is very hard to apply and a good amount of time will go into the final product. Even the smallest deck will require more sealant than you are anticipating. The can says something about using only one coat, but there is no way in the world that you are going to get the finish that you are supposed to get using only one coat. A 10' x 15' deck with several steps will probably require two gallons to get the desired results. New wood will swallow the sealant as if you were applying the product to parched earth.

The project at hand was one where a customer had a kind friend apply the product to her wood deck. He had done a fine job, however, this product is apt to show roller marks and imperfections if only one coat is applied. You will use less product if the deck was sealed in the past. New wood, however, absorbs more product into the pores of the wood. If a stain was on the deck in the past, a stain-stripper must be used to remove all old stain. That task alone can cause the previous product to come out of the pores, necessitating more product.

The product will go onto the surface best with an applicator pad. I have been taught to use this pad for this product, so I cannot tell you whether a roller can be used, but I suspect it would not produce the same, smooth results that I get when using the soft applicator pad.

This project took two vigilant days of attention and two men about 22 hours labor. Material can be applied with a brush. Overlap is one of the hardest parts of this beautiful finish. See pics below.

About 22 man hours to complete
