Cleaning and Staining a Home with SIKKENS Cetol SRD in Richmond, VA by Southern Home
This is why staining a home with Cetol SRD to match the wood deck is so much fun. It took us three days to paint this modern home with this specialized product. One coat will last a few years. We first clean the house using a pressure-washer and we spray the house down with a solution of detergent, TSP and bleach.
Afterwards, we are left with a beautiful finish to begin applying this special stain and sealant made by SIKKENS. It is a premium product for a premium customer.
If you do not feel like tackling this project on your own, please consult, Southern Home in Richmond, VA at 804-585-8016. All work was hand-painted by professional wood finishers. All brushing, no spraying or rolling.

Wood Deck Cleaning using :Mahogany Flame:, Australian Timber Oil by Cabot applied to a new wood deck by Southern Home Wood Deck Cleaning
Australian Timber Oil by Cabot on a deck with new wood. We had the great pleasure of applying this product to the wood deck's surface outside of Richmond, VA when we were called by a customer in Chase City, VA. It was a bit of a drive and I was certainly in awe of the beauty of Virginia's countryside. It was a peaceful day and the pictures speak for themselves.
I thought I would share these pictures with my customers who want to know more about the appearance of "Australian Timber Oil- Mahogany Flame". Here we applied the material with a stain-pad.

How to clean a wood deck, the basics
"How to Clean a Wood Deck"
Here we are with a customer I have worked for for over twenty years. We are cleaning a wood deck that has stain on it. I have always used Cedar stain on this deck in the past. I have always used the Olympic Cedar stain which is also called Natural-tone.
This deck is dirty with mold and mildew, but the real problem is in removing the stain that is underneath the mold and mildew. It can only be done by cleaning the deck with a stain-stripper.
This is a nasty and dirty deck. Mold and mildew work on the surface to destroy the integrity of the wood.
As I begin to pressure-wash the surface, I uncover the clean wood underneath. I can not achieve this without using a stain-stripping solution.
But, with hard work, you can see how nice the final result becomes. At this point I can use a clear product or I can use a stain.

Southern Home Wood Deck Cleaning, Deck Stained with "Jarah Brown" by Cabot, Australian Timber Oil
Cabot brand, Australian Timber Oil
A second coat and a few last touches turned this deck into a luxurious, beautiful work of art. Just look at it. Read previous posts and see how putting extra time into a project like this turned the wood into a work of art. Time was spent- one day to stain-strip, one day to dry, one day to put first coat of stain on deck, and a final day to put a second coat on the deck. Enough said. This is the color Jarah Brown by Cabot.

"OLD DECKS NEED SIMPLE WOOD REPAIR AND A GOOD SEAL OR STAIN TO MAKE THEM LOOK NEW AGAIN"" OLYMPIC, SIKKENS, CABOT, CWF
This was a fairly simple repair for a very old deck on the back of a small house on Grace Street in Richmond, VA. The customer had a wooden deck that was more than twenty years old.
It was a fairly simple refinish. We used new wood to replace old, rotted and warped wood boards. We explained to the customer that it was difficult to make older wood and new wood look exactly the same, but regardless, it would definitely look better. We suggested using a product made by Olympic called Maximum, 4 year water-sealant and stain with a preservative that contained Linseed oil. It would help to preserve the older wood that was not severely damaged and help the wood cracks pull back on themselves and strengthen the wood. Most damage occurs from Richmond, Va's high humidity and heat during the summer and by freezing rain and snow and ice during the winter. It puts a terrible toll on wood surfaces and causes the wood to rot.Linseed oil has been used for hundreds or even thousands of years to preserve wood on boats throughout history. We did the job right and with time, the new wood and old wood will begin to look the same. Job well done by, Southern Home Wood Deck cleaning and staining.
If you have questions on how to do it yourself, please call: (804) 585-8016. I would be happy to discuss your project with you. Even if you don't want my services, I am here to help answer your questions on how you can get the best outcome for your money.
